Flights are available to Limoges airport with Ryanair from Stanstead and Liverpool or from Southampton with Flybe. Book well in advance for cheap flights, transfers from the airport can be arranged or vehicle hire is available at the airport by advance booking.

 

The nearest port is St Malo some 320 miles which means that you get to see a lot of France if you drive down for your holiday. But if you don’t wish to fly or drive why not let the train take the strain? Simply Eurostar to Paris from where you can catch SNCF to Limoges and finally a short trip on a local train to St Yrieix.

 

Being small and a good distance from the more major towns guarantees a quiet and relaxing environment. However, as St Yrieix is a market town it has a good selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. There are five supermarkets on the outskirts of the town and every second and fourth Friday there is a farmers market for everything from local produce to tractor tyres or a day old chick.

 

L’Etang Baudy is in St Yrieix La Perche. St Yrieix has a population of less than 7,500 but is, none-the-less the ‘capital’ of Arédien. Limoges airport is 30 miles away and Bergerac airport is 75 miles.
